HAVOC Previz Artwork

Below are a few images I created whist working on ideas for Havoc. Not everything shown made it into the final book. The images are of landscapes. They are imagined places where I could place the Captain and his faithful band of men and let them run riot.

The Woods surrounding Gurdendorf Castle

This was an image I mucked about with while trying to develop a style for the artwork. I was going for something halfway between a real world setting and a fantasy realm.

Unknown mountainous region

This was an attempt to create a border-land between Gurdendorf and the Empire. Ultimately, I decided to go for a more mountainous region.

My World

I decided to create my entire world in a single image. Somewhere below my stories play out.

The Desert 1

I rendered a couple of desert images to help get in the mood for writing Braveheart and his men’s crossing.

Clouds 42

I created this piece as an attempt to explore vistas in Havoc. In the end, I went for a story with clear skies except when in dream sequences.

Moon 2

I wanted to see what the moon looked like above the desert.

Dream sequence

I rendered this to explore the maelstrom from the dream sequence. Note: I had not come up with the idea of the rock pinnacle when I made this piece.

The valley

An unused piece that was originally meant for the river journey. In the early drafts, the river was a much more grand affair and took up a lot more time.
